
Scientific goals and scope of this project are:
- Comparison of growth conditions for microalgae and duckweed in different environmental conditions;
- Development of the efficient harvesting method for the biomass;
- Evaluation of different cell disruption methods in order to improve the extraction of target components;
- Elaboration of the extraction method for value-added products for the food and feed industry;
- Conversion of biomass residues to worthwhile co-products, e.g. sorbents;
- Heat and electricity recovery from the residual biomass by anaerobic digestion;
- Close the loop by CO2 and nutrient recycling in the bio-refinery process;
- Environmental impacts assessment of the entire process by LCA.
